The Cuvilliés-Theater proudly presents “La Cenerentola” by Gioacchino Rossini, (premiere Apr. 6, further dates in April and with “Liliom” by Franz Molnár.
New pieces also at the Residenz Theater Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel: “Rose Bernd” by Gerhart Hauptmann (June/July) and “Eine Inszenierung” by Thomas Langhoff (May/June).
Premieres at the Münchner Kammerspielen: “Nachtasyl” by Maxim Gorki (April Schauspielhaus) and the world premiere of “Sold out” (May) by Gianina Cãrbunariu.
“Thriller-Live” (Apr. 27 – May 16) can be seen at the Deutsches Theater, followed by the show “Mother Africa – Circus der Sinne” (May 27 – June 20).
Prinzregententheater plays host to Ivo Pogorelich (Apr. 18), Sabine Meyer (May 7), Herbert Schuch (May 17) and Rock the Ballet starting Aug. 2 (further dates in August).
Not to be missed: The series “Summer Proms im Brunnenhof” during July and August in the Residenz courtyard.
In April / May Kent Nagano ushers in the Ballet Festival Weeks 2010 at the Bayerische Staatsoper with “Artifact”, ballet by William Forsythe (premiere Apr. 25), the ballet “Der Sturm” (May 5). And the world of opera: Mozart “Don Giovanni” (starting Apr. 3), Poulenc “Dialoge de carmelites” (starting Apr. 1), Donizetti “L’Elisir d’amore” (starting May 13), Verdi “Aida” (starting May 12), “Carmen” by Bizet (starting May 30). Exciting premieres in June: Giovanni Simone Mayr “Medea in Corinto” (June 7) and Puccini “Tosca” (premiere June 28).
From June 24 to July 31 the Staatsoper celebrates its annual Opera Festival this time with something very special: Music in Pavillon “21 MINI Opera Space” at Marstallplatz. Director Christoph Schlingensief will inaugurate the mini opera space Pavillon 21 on June 26 with the production “Remdoogo – Zero Hour”.
Same day „Oper für alle 2010“, wie immer umsonst und draußen auf dem Max-Josephs-Platz. Festival highlight: Puccini’s “Tosca” with Jonas Kaufmann.
The Philharmonie am Gasteig hosts Montserrat Caballé (Apr. 22), Julian Rachlin and Mischa Maisky (Apr. 28), Edita Gruberova with “mad scenes” (Apr. 29) and Jonas Kaufmann (May 25). In addition: Thomas Hengelbrock conducts Haydn’s “Schöpfung” (June 13/14/16/17) and Sol Gabetta makes an appearance (July 17).
Further highlights: Outdoor concerts “Klassik am Odeonsplatz” on July 17/18 with Sol Gabetta, Thomas Hengelbrock, Mariss Jansons, Thomas Hampson. And the “Münchner Sommernachtstraum” on July 24 presents a top fireworks display in Olympiapark. The Herkules-Saal is the venue for Pomp and Circumstances (June 26).
