Take an enjoyable walk along the Rhine river-path, with its beautiful view of the silhouette of the old part of town and the Rhine itself, with its busy ship traffic, all the way to Oberkassel and the Rheinwiesen (Rhine meadow), also called the “Festwiese“ (fairgrounds). Even from a distance, you’ll most likely notice the impressive St. Lambertus basilica. The church treasury and the splendid grave of the Renaissance Duke Herzog Wilhelm the Rich on the east side of the choir gallery are worth taking a look at.

The former Stiftsplatz in front of the church with its pretty, old façade is one of the most idyllic squares in Düsseldorf’s old city and the Altestadt Strasse is the oldest street in Düsseldorf. The adjacent Ritterstrasse is adorned with lovely facades from the 18th and 19th century and in the Ursulinengasse the markings show just where the city wall from 1288 ran.
