„Standing in line for the Reichstag“
Germany and its visitors love to visit the Reichstag. The whole time, from morning to evening and day after day a line forms on the “Platz der Republik”, moving up the steps to the Reichstag, then inside and all the way up to the famous, iconic glass cupola. The new center of German politics exercises unbroken fascination. What is it? A search for democracy? The past and present of German history? The architecture? Or merely a sightseeing standard of every Berlin visit? In any event, it’s all over at 10 p.m., when the doors close and the end of the line disappears – only to rematerialize the following morning.
