Königsberger Klopse

Berlin may be today’s German capital, but once it was also capital of Prussia: it wasn’t just the people of Königsberg (formerly East Prussia) who came to Berlin - and not only kings went to Königsberg. There are least two things that gave Königsberg additional fame. Emanuel Kant and ... Königsberger Klopse, or meatballs in caper sauce.

Once the pride of the East Prussian kitchen, today these are loved by the Prussians and passionately adored by countless Berliners. A floating culinary monument in a roux sauce, enhanced by the taste of anchovies, pepper and white wine, dominated by delicious capers, accompanied by boiled potatoes and beets. And with a bit of luck and the right cook, you might just find yourself in Prussian heaven.
